Hello, This embroidery machine was purchased in February this year, it is a little beat up, but I am a beginner and didn’t want to invest alot of money in a new hobby. This was purchased to try machine embroidery, and see what it was all about. If that sounds like you, than you may want to consider this machine, but please read the description carefully. The machines embroidery function works perfectly, BUT, the bobbin winder does not work. It probably just needs a new tire, which someone has those parts listed here on ebay. I have just been winding bobbins for it on my regular sewing machine. It has a touch screen, and a needle threader, and includes some preprogrammed designs and has a programmable memory, sounds complicated, but it came with a DVD instructional to watch and learn to use the machine, it was really easy to follow and SO helpful ( : An instruction manual is also included, as well as 6 bobbins, and will include One spool of thread and I will throw in a piece of stabilizer fabric so you can test it out when it arrives. It does have one cosmetic flaw, there is a chip out of the plastic casing on the top near the handle, see pictures. The pictures will also show a few items that were stitched with this machine yesterday. I really enjoyed using this to make gift for family and items to sell, So much that I am going to invest the money in a bigger machine. This was an excellent starter. Other things to know about this machine: Rayon thread did not work well with it, I had better luck with polyester, I purchased thread here on ebay from seller house_of_fashion and it has worked really well with this machine, isocord brand thread works great too but costs more. Use thread nets, I will leave one on the thread I send you, they help to keep the thread tension steady. Singer bobbins do not work with it, it takes a class 15 bobbin and the flatter the better, singer ones tend to be rounded, there is a listing for bobbins on ebay too if you look for “bobbins deco 500″ you can even find them prewound Cut away stabilizer has worked best with this machine, the thicker the better. The machine has a card slot for Brother embroidery cards or rewritable discs, you can look for “brother embroidery cards” These machines were actually manufactured by Brother for Bernina, and so, it works with ALL the brother cards and software, If you want to download designs , you can get them on many sites, emblibrary is a great site with tons of info for beginners and pros and great quality designs. You can download PES files on your computer, and if you have PED basic from Brother or another writable card you can save the designs, put the card in your machine and make ANY design at all. I also have my used PED basic kit listed in a seperate listing, if you win both, I will give free shipping on the PED basic and include for free, some cds I have with thousands of designs too try, and I mean thousands, literally. But again, only if you win both, because you really cant use the discs without the card writer. It took me a lot of research to find all this stuff out. IF you are a beginner….T shirts, not so easy too do. You have to use very thick, or heavy duty cut away stabilizer for this machine to work well on T’s. Towels, thick cut away stabilizer in back, water soluable stabilizer on the front (this prevents stitches from getting hidden or “lost” in the nappy fabrics like terry cloth. So again, if you are just starting, a great machine to learn on, if you are experienced, maybe an inexpensive second machine to make smaller items on so you arent tying up time on the big machine. If you are in a repair shop, it could be used for parts, but more likely fixed and sold for more since it needs so little work to be restored. Embroidery fuction works perfectly, flaw were, bobbin winder not working, chip in plastic casing.
